Gifts of Aroha from the Kōwhai Hub at Wharenui School. Pūtaringamotu is a special place for our school and in our hearts. We fundraised within our community to show Manaaki to our local environment. We love to see and hear the birds in their natural environment and the trees and plants that are being protected. We hope that many people in future generations will be able to have the privilege of sharing such a local treasure, that Pūtaringamotu has become to us.

Kia ora! We are a group of 5-7 year olds who have learnt all about Māori explorers who arrived in Ōtautahi, Waitaha. We visited Riccarton Bush as part of our learning. We want to make sure this special place is there for lots of other children to experience what it was like when people first came. We organised a non uniform day at Tuia Burnside Primary and raised the money for the boardwalks.

September 6, 2024

How your sponsorship will help the bush and the wildlife

We need your help to protect, conserve and enhance Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush.

1

Integrate Ngāi Tūāhuriri narratives

Through the Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush enhancement project we aim to integrate Ngāi Tūāhuriri narratives, values and associations through design, art, entrance experience and interpretation.

2

Upgrade Track

There are nearly 900 metres of tracks to enjoy with it all being flat and accessible to most. Areas of the boardwalk are starting to fail, and concrete paths have become displaced and uneven and creating a tripping hazard.

3

Develop new areas

In areas of the bush such as the Grove, we aim to create a world-class are to support larger groups visiting. This will help to educate our visitors on the cultural significance of this special heritage site.

Our Funding Partners

The Riccarton Bush Trust is deeply appreciative of the generous assistance given. The Trust would like to thank the following organisations who have provided support for this exciting project.
