Ranger – Pūtaringamotu/Riccarton Bush

Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush, Christchurch

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Ranger at Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a team that caretakes and enhances Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush, Riccarton House, Deans Cottage and the Grounds for future generations.

The job is never boring with heaps of variety that includes education, engagement and running a predator-free reserve with a rich bi-cultural history. Pūtaringamotu Riccarton Bush receives over 70,000 visitors per year, so you will interact with a variety of people from different cultures, ages and abilities.

This is a highly rewarding and interesting position, with exciting projects and daily changing circumstances allowing you to be creative at finding solutions. You also get the chance to work in a beautiful location with amazing people!

A modern three-bedroom house is available on-site – while not a requirement, our preference is for the Ranger to live on site.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in conservation, environmental management, ecology, or natural heritage management
  • Knowledge of NZ conservation practices including revegetation and outcome monitoring
